In the Ehsaas program, ehsaas Panagah and langar are some of the best and most important initiatives made by the government of Pakistan. In this initiative government of Pakistan built units that provide food and shelter for needy and poor people. Having one’s own home is a basic right for everyone. The government of Pakistan started an initiative to provide shelter for homeless people. Due to the high prices of everything in the country, it is difficult to build homes separately so the government of Pakistan established well-equipped shelter homes under the umbrella of the ehsaas program throughout the country.
Ehsaas Shelter program
The PTI government launched the ehsaas shelter program to provide shelter for homeless people. Besides this, they built langar khanas throughout the country that initiative to provide free meals for needy and poor people. The basic purpose of that initiative was for those who could not afford a home to live in and food to eat. These panagahs are neat and clean like homes. For needy people, there is clean drinking water and also clean washrooms and beds for sleeping.
Ehsaas Panagah Registration
There is no complex procedure for registration in Ehsaas Panagah. You just go to the nearest panagah without any paper documents. This program is part of the ehsaas kafalat program that can provide better food and residence for the poor and needy people which addresses the poverty, inequality, and social exclusion in Pakistan.
This initiative was launched in November 2019 and in 2021 there were 34 ehsaas panagahs established in different cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Multan. In these panagahs, free meals are also served to the people who stay there. If you want to stay there for 3 or more days then you need to register yourself there.
The Basic purpose of this program is that if you are jobless or you are poor then you don’t need to worry government of Pakistan launched this initiative for those people who are poor and unable to afford food and hotels. There is no specific procedure to register yourself In this program you just go to the nearby ehsaas panagah with your CNIC and they just see your identity and then provide you with shelter and free meals.
Ehsaas Program Eligibility Criteria
This initiative focuses on all those people who are homeless and also unable to afford meals and can stay in the ehsaas paragraph for 3 days. If someone wants to stay for a long time, they need to register themselves in the paragraph with their CINC. This program is mad to provide shelter and food for needy people temporarily. The basic criteria for this program have five points which is

- Income level
- Vulnerability
- Citizenship
- Identity verification
This ehsaas Panagah program is designed for those people who are homeless or belong to a poor family that is unable to pay rent of the homes that are eligible for this program to get shelter under this program easily.
The income level in this program matters because a person who earns daily wages that is unable to afford a home and also rents is eligible for this program and stays in the panagah and also gets free food under this program.
Ehsaas Panagahs program focuses on vulnerable groups of families like people belonging to poor backgrounds women who have no husbands, or children, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities and mainly focuses on this program.
The basic and important point of this program is that it will provide these benefits for all people in Pakistan if they are eligible. There is no restriction on religion if you are living in Pakistan and you are needy people that you can’t afford a home and meals can easily stay there.
In this program, your identity is verified by your CNIC If you are jobless and also homeless then you just go to the nearby ehsaas panagahs provide them with your CNIC register yourself there, and then get the benefits of this program.
Ehsaas Panagah Program Form for Entry
When someone goes to the panagah for shelter they give them shelter free for 3 days if someone wants to stay there more than 3 days then need to register in the system. Registration teams in the ehsaas panagah have a certain type of form that is filled out by the visitor and then given his CNIC card to the team. They allow you the bed number and details where is your bed number and where is the stay you want to stay.
According to our records, there is no form available anywhere for the Ehsaas Panagah program. If you want to visit the panagah then you just go there and fill out the form and then you can easily get these benefits under the ehsaas program. The registration in this process is not very difficult You just go there and they just ask you for your name, age, and address and also ask you about any special needs or medical conditions you require or not.
Each panagah in every city provides a free meal for visitors and also provides shelter in all of Pakistan. Every panagah must able to provide food for about 500 people and have 1000 person beds available that can stay there overnight
Ehsaas Panagahs Security
Overall, the panagahs were covered with security cameras and that is managed by the special teams. The teams can monitor all the activities that are performed in the ehsaas panagahs. There are neat and clean washrooms and filtered water for the people and also have self-service dine-in food for the people who stay in the Ehsaas Panagah center.
In the panagahs there is a system made for funding purpose every panagah have its own bank account and if someone wants to give funding can be given to that account directly linked with the Bait Ul Mall. All the expenses were gone directly through Bail Ul Mall. This program has 39 types of panagah in the country of Pakistan and each panagah has the facility to provide shelter to 500 people at one time and also provides free food for about 1000 people at one time.
For the ehsaas langar and panagah program government of Pakistan also provides specialized training for the staff in the panagahs to behave with the people. In this initiative, they make sure all the staff how to behave with people and also how to serve them food an also including health safety and environment, food safety and hygiene, housekeeping, etc.
There are also new models of panagahs established in the Tarlai, Tarnol, G-9, and Mandi areas in Islamabad’s capital territory with improved standards and structures. The new design in that panagah was the new and bigger kitchen, cold storage system, reception, lobby areas, and waiting areas also enhancing the capacity to offer food and shelter to the needy and the poor people. In this panagah, there is also offering ehsaas one window shelter. It is enabled to provide benefits of the social welfare program to all needy and poor people.
Ehsaas Langar Program Helpline
The Ehsaas Langar initiative helpline number is not available publically. The government did not allow this to be shared publically in this initiative. It also depends on the local implementation and coordination efforts.

The timings included in the ehsaas program for lunch time is 12 to 2 PM and then dinner time is 6 PM to 8 PM. But this is not exactly you to eat if you are not available then you can eat your meal within a day without any issue.
First of all, this scheme was launched in the federal capital Islamabad then it expanded to the entire country. This is the most important initiative launched by the government of Pakistan to help poor and needy people with food and shelter they could not afford.
